Hair transplantation is a surgical technique that moves individual hair follicles from a part of the scalp called the ‘donor site’ to bald or balding part of the scalp known as the ‘recipient site’. Grafts containing hair follicles that are genetically resistant to balding are transplanted to the bald scalp.
Since hair naturally grows in groupings of 1 to 4 hairs, today’s most advanced techniques harvest and transplant these naturally occurring 1–4 hair “follicular units” in their natural groupings. Thus modern hair transplantation can achieve a natural appearance

What is a Follicular Unit?
A follicular unit is a natural grouping of hairs that grow together in the scalp and share the same blood supply. Each follicular unit has from one to four separate individual hairs growing from it. Follicular unit hair transplants yield the most natural look and highest density, as it involves the extraction of units from the “donor site” at the back of the head, where hair is genetically programmed to grow for life, and then implanting it in the areas suffering from hair loss. There are multiple hair transplant methods doctors can perform. The “strip” method or FUT (follicular unit transplantation) is the most commonly performed method. In an FUT procedure, a strip of scalp containing your hair follicle and the root is extracted from the donor site and cut into 1-4 hair follicular units, which are then transplanted individually to the balding areas. You will not experience any hair loss at the donor site.
What is Follicular Unit Extraction (FUE)?
During an FUE (follicular unit extraction) procedure a small tool will be used to remove 1-4 hair follicular units individually, without surgically removing a strip of scalp, which are then transplanted to individually to the balding areas. Again, you will have no hair loss at the donor site. Both methods are effective, and minimally invasive. The major difference between these techniques is in the harvesting method. With an FUT procedure you will have one fine linear scar at the donor site, from an FUE procedure you will have multiple small circular scars throughout the donor site. Both types of scarring quickly become undetectable
